Hello,
I'm Lyndsey.
I have been a long-time student of meditation, and and avid writer for my entire life. A few years back, I joined my first online writing group and I realized that these two disparate crafts (writing and meditation) not only compliment each other, but when practiced in tandem each craft can inform the other.
After that class I was inspired to begin what I called the "15/15 Practice." For six months I committed to sitting in meditation for 15 minutes and writing for 15 minutes every single day. Through that practice, I found writing emptied the contents of my mind onto the page and it allowed me to enter meditation with a lot less mental chatter. In turn, my meditation practice made me so much more observant. The practice of deep observation led to writing that was luminous, detailed, and alive.
Inspired by my "15/15 Practice", and the writing group I had joined, I began facilitating online writing groups in 2022.
What I learned by facilitating these groups is that all of us hold so much emotion, memory, joy, pain, and heartache in our bodies. Our busy lives rarely allow us to slow down and engage in community in a meaningful way. I began to see that writing group could actually become a container for community catharsis. By sharing writing, and by listening deeply to others, a subtle healing happens. In a world that can feel fractured, writing group allows participants to see the humanity aching to be expressed in each of us, through the medium of writing.
I invite you to join a group. I facilitate a safe environment for everyone to create, communicate, listen, and be heard. In group, we do not offer suggestions of how to improve your writing, or give any feedback, negative or positive. This allows everyone to write with abandon. It gives permission to be messy. It creates space for the writing to breathe. I hope you'll join us.
