Early Spring Writing Group 2026
The Hiding Place
Service Description
Feeling a little overwhelmed by the state of the world? Are you aching for a creative outlet but are unsure where to look? Would you like to process unfelt emotion through writing in a group that will simply listen without offering feedback, suggestions, or ways to fix it? If you answered "yes" to any these questions, then I invite you to join our eight-week writing creative writing course. This session's theme is "The Hiding Place," and we will be reading Corrie Ten Boom's book of the same name. In each weekly two-hour session, we will discuss segments of the book, and I will give thoughtful prompts and ask you to write on the prompts for set periods of time. This style of writing is inspired by the teachings of Natalie Goldberg’s "Writing Down the Bones," and you will be encouraged to keep your pens moving and to write without restraint or the impulse to edit along the way. This style of writing allows for messiness, imperfection, and spontaneity. There is no criticism or feedback given. This helps to not only take the constraints and expectations off of you as a writer, but also helps everyone in the group hone deep listening skills. In the context of a supportive group container, writers of all skill levels are invited to explore their creativity and to access our shared humanity by telling the stories that reside within each of us. I hope you will join us!
